Salesforce Design

  • Introduce a new type of Trailblazer to the Salesforce ecosystem. A Trailblazer is someone who takes exams and Trailhead modules to become a specialist. Companies can hire Trailblazers to run their Salesforce platform.

Salesforce Developers, Administrators, and others had established Trailblazer communities. Our team was launching a new type of Trailblazer known as Salesforce Designers. Among many goals we had for this emerging community we were also focused on amplifying products like the Lightning Design System.

  • Build an all-encompassing promotional infrastructure around the Salesforce Designer. This infrastructure included many of the hallmarks of a thriving Trailblazer community including message boards, social posts, podcasts, video channels, and events. A robust editorial campaign including articles, interviews, pieces from thought leadership, and more.

What set our team apart was our bespoke design methodology called Relationship Design. Much like human-centered design, Relationship Design was centered around fostering healthy relationships with users through trust and ethical design.

  • As the Senior Writer, I got to share my skills across the entire organization by working with various teams in editorial, branding, education, and more. I even got to work on a script for Team Earth. I started out writing articles on Medium and then graduated to the 360 Blog. Ghostwriting articles for subject matter experts became a large part of my role where I gained an intimate understanding of complex topics like UX design, strategy design, design Trailblazers, AI, and more. I fell in love with conversation design and got the opportunity to curate and edit 7 articles on the topic.

Beyond editorial, I worked closely with branding to craft Salesforce Design landing page. This project had many stakeholders because it was to encompass all we had created over the years. Luckily, as the editor for the Salesforce Designer educational content and Trailhead modules I was afforded an additional layer of understanding of this project, along with my editorial background. This understanding helped me empathize with stakeholders and arrive at copy we could all get excited about.

Relationship Design held high stakes because it was Salesforce adding to larger design philosophies and communities. With a degree in philosophy and a propensity for the distillation of high-level ideas, I was added to this project. My background in human-centered design and innate curiosity helped me with interviews, developing language, and an understanding of the larger implications of our methodology.

Lastly, we supported many events throughout the year with Dreamforce being the highlight. Our team crafted thoughtful and engaging stations at Moscone Center in San Francisco and showed up daily to help usher curios Trailblazers and customers through our experiences.

I wrote the script for this internal video. 2021.
